Earlier this year, we huddled around a small LCD TV at someone's house party. It was the NFL Playoffs and the host used rabbit ears for reception. No cable or satellite. The channel was terrible and we had to have one of the kids sit next to the TV and hold the antennas. It was bad but what's worse is what will she do come February 2009?
Let's review my Theory: Cellphones and other Wifi/Wireless products need more bandwidth. Emergency services right now have TERRIBLE communication reception. What's a Government to do? How 'bout bump everyone up a level? Slow ATT and Tmobile get's 3G. AM Radio goes stereo, FM Radio goes "Hi-Def". TV goes ATSC (Advanced Television Systems Committee) Digital. DVDs go HD/Blue-ray. Internet goes FIOS.
And what's the result? The average Joe gets lost in the sauce. Is this for his benefit? Not really, His radio will soon be junk. The repair shop will go out of business. The average cellphone user won't "video conference". He'll watch his cable/satellite bill go up since they'll really have us in their claws. In the middle of a recession, this all seems to be bad timing. We aren't using our "Stimulus Check" to get a new Plasma because we want to, we are led to believe we have to! Do you hear the electric clippers?
